2. Each award carries a certificate of merit, a cash award of Rs. 50,000/- and a silver medal. Subject: Self Nominations for the National Awards to Teachers 2023-24

The Ministry of Education, Government of India confers National Awards to Teachers to celebrate the unique contribution of outstanding teachers in the country. The Ministry seeks six nominations from private independent schools affiliated to CBSE. CBSE, thus, invites self-nominations from the interested and eligible teachers and principals from its private independent schools.

Eligibility

Teachers having completed at least 10 years of regular service as a teacher in school(s) affiliated to recognized Board of school education by 31st March 2024.

Principals having completed 10 years of regular service as a teacher and 5 years as a Principal in CBSE affiliated school(s) by 31st March 2024.

Teachers or Principals retired on or after 31st March 2024 may also apply.

Principals cannot apply in the category of teachers.

An applicant can apply under only one category.

General and Specific criteria for selecting nominations is attached as Annexure 'A'.

Submission of Application

1. Only ONLINE Applications will be accepted. The link for registration and filling the application is available at a tab along with a tab for this circular at:

2. All applicants shall apply directly on or before 8th July 2024 and submit the following along with the application:

a. An undertaking stating that all the particulars submitted are correct and copies of documents uploaded are genuine.

b. Recommendation Letters including continuous and regular Service and vigilance clearance furnished by the Manager of school after the verifying that there is no break in the service of the applicant during the last 10 years (in case of teachers) and 15 years (in case of Principals).

с. Certificates/degrees and mark statements of Class 10/11/12/Equivalent (indicating date of Birth); Graduation; Post Graduation and NTT/ETE/B. El. Ed./B.Ed./Others.
d. Class Result in Board/School;

Selection Procedure

From the final merit list, 24 top scorers will be shortlisted based on experience, age, higher qualification, and percentages in qualifying exams etc. If there is a tie after applying the above criteria, CBSE reserves the right to decide alternative criteria to finalize the merit. Two days' time will be given to shortlisted applicants for uploading their verified documents. It's important for applicants to have their documents ready in a format that's easy to upload. All documents must be signed by the applicant and verified by the Head of the school in case of a teacher and by the Manager of the School in case of a principal.

National Level Scrutiny Committee after further shortlisting will invite applicants for an interactive session to decide final six nominations.

All school heads are requested to widely publicize the information to all the concerned teachers. It is reiterated that the complete information as desired may be uploaded on the portal on or before the last date.

Conditions of Eligibility of Teachers

School teachers and Heads of Schools working in recognized primary / middle / high / higher secondary schools under the following categories:
Schools run by State Govt./UTs Administration, schools run by local bodies, schools aided by State Govt. and UT Administration and Private schools affiliated to State/UTs Board.
Central Govt. Schools i.e. Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), Sainik Schools run by Ministry of Defence (MoD), Schools run by Atomic Energy Education Society (AEES) and Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) run by Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) (other than those at (a) and (b) above)
Schools affiliated to Council for Indian Schools Certificate Examination (CISCE) (Other than those at (a), (b) and (c) above)
Normally retired teachers are not eligible for the award but those teachers who have served a part of the calendar year (at least for four months i.e. upto 30th April in the year to which National Awards relate) may be considered if they fulfill all other conditions.
Educational Administrators, Inspectors of Education, and the staff of training Institutes are not eligible for these awards.
Teacher / Headmaster should not have indulged in tuitions.
Only regular Teachers and Heads of Schools with minimum ten years of services are eligible.
Contractual Teachers and Shiksha Mitras are not eligible.

खालील श्रेण्यांतर्गत मान्यताप्राप्त प्राथमिक/मध्यम/उच्च/उच्च माध्यमिक शाळांमध्ये काम करणारे शाळेचे शिक्षक आणि शाळा प्रमुख:
राज्य सरकार/केंद्रशासित प्रदेश प्रशासनाद्वारे चालवल्या जाणाऱ्या शाळा, स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्थांद्वारे चालवल्या जाणाऱ्या शाळा, राज्य सरकारच्या अनुदानित शाळा. आणि केंद्रशासित प्रदेश प्रशासन आणि राज्य/केंद्रशासित प्रदेश मंडळाशी संलग्न खाजगी शाळा.

सामान्यत: सेवानिवृत्त शिक्षक पुरस्कारासाठी पात्र नसतात परंतु ज्या शिक्षकांनी कॅलेंडर वर्षाचा काही भाग (किमान चार महिने म्हणजे राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार संबंधित वर्षातील 30 एप्रिल पर्यंत) सेवा केली असेल त्यांनी इतर सर्व अटी पूर्ण केल्यास त्यांचा विचार केला जाऊ शकतो.
शैक्षणिक प्रशासक, शिक्षण निरीक्षक आणि प्रशिक्षण संस्थांचे कर्मचारी या पुरस्कारांसाठी पात्र नाहीत.
शिक्षक/मुख्याध्यापकांनी शिकवणी लावलेली नसावी.
किमान दहा वर्षे सेवा असलेले केवळ नियमित शिक्षक आणि शाळांचे प्रमुख पात्र आहेत.
कंत्राटी शिक्षक आणि शिक्षक मित्र पात्र नाहीत.

National Award to Teachers 2024

 (HEIs and Polytechnics)

1. SCOPE

The National Education Policy, 2020, has underlined the importance of motivated and energised faculty members to meet the expectations of high-quality education. For cultivating a culture of excellence in higher education, there is a need to develop a systematized mechanism to incentivize the outstanding and creative work of faculty members of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) including Polytechnics and ITIs and recognise its impact not only on their students but on the communities around them, through appropriate rewards and recognition mechanisms.

The purpose of the National Award to Teachers 2024 in Higher Educational Institutions is to recognise the distinctive contributions of some of the finest faculty members in the country and honour them for their dedication and hard work, particularly teaching and pedagogy and its impact which have not only improved the quality of higher education but also enriched the lives of their students. The Award seeks to recognise and honour the unique and path breaking achievements of faculty members in teaching-learning, community outreach, institutional service, research, and novelty of work in the field of higher education.

The selected awardees will be felicitated on 5th September (Teachers Day) to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and a remarkable teacher.

2. NAME OF THE AWARD

हिंदीः राष्ट्रीय शिक्षक पुरस्कार 2024 English: National Award to Teachers 2024 (HEIs and Polytechnics)

CATEGORIES

Category I: Teachers of Higher Educational Institutions: Total 25 Awards

This award will be conferred on the exemplary teachers/faculty members of technical and non-technical higher education institutions. There shall be three sub-categories based on the following broad disciplines:

Sub-category (i): Engineering & Technology, Architecture.

Sub-category (ii): Pure Sciences including Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy

Sub-category (iii) Arts and Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Legal Studies, Commerce, Management.

Note: The list of disciplines/subjects is indicative only and will also include any other discipline/subject/emerging knowledge domain pertaining to higher education.

Category II: Teachers of Polytechnic Institutions: Total 10 Awards

This award will be conferred on the exemplary teachers/faculty members of Polytechnic institutions.

3. NUMBER OF AWARDS

A total of Thirty five Awards (25 in Category-I and 10 in Category-II) shall be conferred every year.

4. DECORATIONS

Each awardee shall be presented with the following.

A medal

A certificate

Cash Prize of Rs 50,000/-

5. ELIGIBILITY

The award is open to all the faculty members of colleges/universities/higher educational institutions /polytechnics in India, satisfying the following conditions:

The Nominee should be a regular faculty member,

Should have at least five years of full-time teaching experience at the Undergraduate and/or Post-graduate level,

Should NOT be above 55 years of age as on the last date of receiving application for the awards.

Vice-Chancellor/ Director / Principal (regular or officiating) are NOT eligible to apply. However, individuals who have held such positions earlier, but are below 55 years of age and still in active service are eligible.

6. NOMINATION PROCEDURE

Self-nomination (Singular basis).

Former or existing Vice-Chancellor/Director/Principal/Faculty Member / Colleague of the same University/Institute/College/Polytechnic, where the nominee holds regular employment, Earlier nominee / nomination is eligible for re-nomination,

Members of the Search-cum-Screening Committees may also take suo-moto cognizance of an outstanding faculty member and may nominate exemplary teachers.

Award Jury are NOT eligible to make any nomination for this award.

7. APPLICATION PROCESS FOR NAT

The nomination shall be made in the prescribed format using the online portal, Rashtriya Puraskar Portal @www.awards.gov.in.

The nominator may ensure that the nomination form is duly completed online and information, as required by the Committee, is included.

The system generated OTP will be used for submission and an email will also be sent to the head of the institution.

The nomination shall be supported by a CAREER PROFILE in accordance with below enlisted points i to ix (maximum 800 words excluding spaces and paragraphs) enumerating the contributions and achievements of the nominee in the specified areas as given below. However, a citation of not more than 100 words should also be provided indicating achievements strictly with reference to the following parameters: -

i. Creating an optimal learning environment for students through innovative curricular design, improved pedagogical approaches, promoting multidisciplinary and experiential learning and effective assessment of learning outcomes,

ii. Promoting educational technology to improve the quality of education including the development of digital educational resources,

Providing support for physical and psychological well-being of students while also enhancing their cognitive abilities,

iv. Fostering gender, SEDGs sensitization and inclusivity on campus, community engagement, outreach, and service, etc.

V. Fostering environmental/climate sensitivity, multi-stakeholder adaptability and a strong sense of nationalism.

vi. Innovations/initiatives/Start-ups contributing towards better communities and nation.
